MAGNIFICENT : A medal after 48 years ! With at least a SILVER, we are gunning for GOLD!

Finally after 48 years, Singapore are with a medal at the Olympics!
The Table Tennis Womens team's win over South Korea ensured that Singapore will come home with at least a Silver this year =D

The Heroine is Tian Wei Feng who was identified by the koreans as s'pore weakest link. However, she proved to be the decisive factor in the final "rubber match" or "crucial game" as she beat korea's Miyoung Park to help Singapore win 3-2.
This was the 1st time Li Jiawei cried after a game as she has lost her individual single and thought that the game was over.
However, no matter how strong the korean "choppers" are (as the spore papers called them due to their playing style), Singapore used their training sint in Japan to good use to emerge as winners.
They face China in the final for the Gold Medal Match.

Feng after her game, raises her hand in victory and rushes to hug her coach.

After 48 years since Singapore's last Olympic silver medal in 1960 Rome...

The wait is over.

This is Singapore's 1st Olympic Medal since gaining independence !
Truely Emotional evening on 15/8/08 after 3++ hours.

Well done Singapore!

On the America's side, they have a reason to celebrate too after Phelps wins his 7th Gold Medal this morning via a 100m Butterfly race.

He won by 0.01 sec.

He is already the greatest swimmer in Olympic history with 15 Olympic medals (13 Gold and 2 Bronze)

Can he beat Mark Spitz's record of 7 Gold medals in a single Olympic games?

We will see tml as he races his last race to fight all out for Gold n.o. 8.
